Many People are paying attention to the topic of empowerment because it promises to help them make sense of many personal and organisational situations. By responding to the items in this questionnaire, you will learn how empowered you are in your job.

Second Edition

Wise leaders know that power is an unusual kind of currency. The more you give it away, the more you end up having.

The Leader Version of the Empowerment Profile provides leaders (executives, managers, and supervisors) with an instrument for measuring the extent to which they feel empowered at work. More specifically, the instrument measures the eight dimensions of empowerment that research in behavioural psychology demonstrates to be significant. Leaders can obtain a clear picture of their empowerment at work and decide whether they need to make some adjustments. But this is onlly half of the picture. To obtain a full picture, leaders may opt to elicit information from those they lead. By administering the Employee Version, leaders can determine how empowered their employees perceive themselves to be.

Help leaders understand this essential concept with the new edition of the Empowerment Profile - an in-depth instrument that provides leaders with a measurement of the degree to which they perceive themselves to have power at work.

Participants create two profiles: one based on their assessment of their own empowerment, the second profile based on scores compiled from the leader's employees' assessments of their own empowerment. The 40-item assessment measures perceptions of empowerment along 8 dimensions, including autonomy, climate, control, and influence. Together, the two charts provide a complete look at empowerment in the leader's work environment.

The Leader Version includes the leader's self-assessment and the profiles. Background information and an action planning section help leaders understand how to empower themselves and their employees.

This version can form the basis for an all-employee survey aimed at opening the subject up to everyone. The simplest way of accomplishing this objective is to collect anonymously the Data Collection Forms. The respondent can attach a page of responses to demographic questions such as supervisor code number, gender, tenure, shift, location, etc.

The Leader Version includes the leader's self-assessment and the profiles. Background information and an action planning section help leaders understand how to empower themselves and their employees.

The Employee Version contains only the employee's self-assessment. It is designed to provide leaders with data on how empowered their employees actually feel.
